Stadt Und Regionalbibliothek Erfurt: HMML Repository

Stadt- und Regionalbibliothek Erfurt

Founded as the Volksbibliothek (People's Library) in 1897, the Stadt- und Regionalbibliothek Erfurt is the largest library in the German state of Thuringia. Of their manuscript collection, the largest part makes up the Bibliotheca Amploniana. This collection, gathered in the 15th c. by Amplonius Rating de Berka, represents the largest medieval manuscript collection that remains largely intact today. HMML filmed 927 manuscripts from the Amploniana, as well as 27 other manuscripts at this library. These date from the 8th to the 17th c.
