More than a dozen manuscripts from Bēta Madḫānē Ālam, among the best-known of the rock-hewn churches in Lālibalā, were microfilmed by the EMML, including its famous Zāgwē era gospelbook, one of the earliest extant Ethiopic manuscripts.
