Founded in the 11th century, this Benedictine abbey at the edge of the Gesäuse mountain range (“Ad montes”) is home to one of the most famous and beautiful libraries in the world. HMML filmed nearly 800 monastic manuscripts here, chiefly dated prior to 1600, with many of them from the 11th to 14th centuries.
