Nonnberg (abbey). Stiftsbibliothek: HMML Repository

Nonnberg (Abbey). Stiftsbibliothek

This Benedictine monastery for nuns has enjoyed an unbroken existence since its foundation about the year 700, but was compelled to appease civil authorities intent on its dissolution in the 19th c. by presenting them with items from its manuscript collection. HMML filmed 195 manuscripts, dating from the 14th to the 18th c.
