Masjid At Taqwa Godegan: HMML Repository
Masjid at-Taqwa Godegan
Islamic manuscripts from Indonesia digitized by the DREAMSEA project. Cataloged in HMML Cloud at https://www.hmmlcloud.org/dreamsea/. Magetan, located in East Java, Indonesia, is a city known as the 'City at the foot of the Mountain' due to its proximity to Mount Lawu. One of Magetan's notable landmarks is an old mosque built by one of Pangeran Diponegoro's guards who fled after the Java War in 1830. The mosque's construction during the Java War era is apparent in the presence of the Sawo Kecik tree in front of the mosque. Aside from its historical significance, the mosque also served as a repository for hundreds of Islamic manuscripts left behind by Kiai Hamid's ancestors. However, due to the mosque's age and deterioration, only 18 bundles of manuscripts are currently housed in the mosque. It is unfortunate that the number of manuscripts has dwindled over time due to poor preservation, resulting in the decay of some manuscripts.
