Neukloster. Bibliothek: HMML Repository

Neukloster. Bibliothek

In the once imperial city of Wiener-Neustadt, where the Hapsburgs had established a residence, 40 miles south of Vienna, Emperor Friedrich III erected a monastery (Neukloster) for Cistercians in 1444. The manuscripts today are stored at Stift Heiligenkreuz, with which this house is affiliated. The 36 manuscripts filmed date from the 13th to the 17th c.
