John Meyerhofer
John Meyerhofer joined HMML in 2017 as Systems Librarian. In 2020 he was promoted to his current position of Director of Information Systems. He holds a BS in Mathematics from Saint John’s University, Collegeville, MN, and a MLIS in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Prior to joining HMML, Meyerhofer served as the digital scholarship librarian at Macalester College, Saint Paul, MN, and information specialist at the Central Minnesota Libraries Exchange, St. Cloud, MN. He began his career in computer programming for the St. Paul Companies, Saint Paul, MN, and MetLife, Bloomington, MN.
In his career, Meyerhofer has programmed everything from Mainframe COBOL, to client/server technologies, to web applications. He has published several articles on creating customized IT solutions that help overcome barriers small colleges face in managing their information systems. In his role at HMML, he works across the organization and engages with various consulting services to ensure that HMML develops and executes a long-term technology strategy that supports its continued success.
What he enjoys most about his work: “I appreciate the modern, technical aspects of my job, while at the same time working with objects that are sometimes extremely old. The HMML staff is wonderful and engaging. They always have interesting ideas and challenge me to explore new systems to help make their jobs easier.”
