1980–1990, 2015–present
During the 1980s, HMML microfilmed select manuscripts from university and private libraries, particularly Ethiopian manuscripts that were related to the Ethiopian Manuscript Microfilm Library project. Notable collections included the Union Theological Seminary, Duke University, and Mount Angel Abbey. Beginning in 2015, HMML initiated partnerships to digitize and provide access to manuscript collections related to other external projects. These collections included the Dom Edmond Obrecht Collection of early Cistercian manuscripts and incunabula at Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani (Kentucky), the Malta Collection at the Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.), manuscripts from Luther Seminary (Minnesota), and Mount Angel Abbey (Oregon), some of which were previously microfilmed. HMML has also microfilmed and digitized much of its own rare book and manuscript collections, including those of the Malta Study Center.
