The city of Iaşi in eastern Romania is the historic capital of Moldavia. Famous for its university and historic archives, Iaşi played a key role in the formation of the modern nation. In 2007, HMML partnered with the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Iaşi to digitize 30 late medieval and early modern manuscripts in various languages, including Greek and Romanian.
